A native of Dallas, J. René Guerrero has been involved in the Texas regional artistic community all his life. He spent his freshman year at the famed Booker T. Washington Arts Magnet High School studying music performance and art. In 1984, he began Jazz Studies and pursuing the dramatic arts at the University of North Texas in Denton. Beginning in the nineties, he worked as a freelance photographer, wrote for and performed in an original alternative band, and started his career as a corporate videographer/producer and freelance editor.
Guerrero has been writing in one form or another his whole life. With multiple spec feature film scripts along with a huge backlog of poetry and song lyrics to his credit, René wanted to continue the natural evolution in his writing to long-form fiction.
Always drawn to a darker side of life, and finding human despair and the fear of the unknown a more satisfying literary palette than cynical social commentary, the genre of Southern Gothic paranormal was a natural fit for his debut novel. Drawing from his life-long creative and artistic experience, along with a hefty dose of stubborn will and determination, he crafted WHITE ROCK as an immersive and haunting tale of a ghost whose desire for love transcends life itself.
Mr. Guerrero currently resides in his hometown of Dallas, Texas. You can see examples of his applied design, artwork, music, and read excerpts from White Rock at www.reneguerrero.com.
