Bio of Dr. Robert V.Myers Jr.

Dr. Robert V. Myers Jr. is the Pastor of Miami Baptist Church a turn around church located in the multi-lingual community located on the main east-west corridor of Miami Dade County in South Florida. Fifteen years ago, Rob arrived to a church that was a southern, white controlled Baptist church that was very opposite to the multicultural community around it. He was able to navigate the church into a position, which mirrored the local community, by implementing a “seamless church” strategy. A few years after phenomenal initial growth, the church suffered a major split, which threatened the existence of the church and the destruction of Rob’s career. With God’s help, Rob learned how to revive a broken church body and find personal renewal.

Through evaluation and re-tooling Rob was able to bring the church back to a healthy state. Miami Baptist Church is now steadily growing in strength and size. Last year the church was number 23 in the Southern Baptist convention in per capita baptisms and is fully committed to the Great Commission. Over the last year with an emphasis on Baptisms, Rob realized that the bulk of his people were not understanding of what a disciple is and how they could make disciples. Rob implemented a staff initiated Men’s mentoring program with the intentional design to create a mature disciple making process. The material was developed, tweaked and proven over the next year. The results were outstanding, moving the men involved into mature disciple behaviors and lifestyles.

Rob has an earned Doctorate in Ministry Leadership from John Wesley University, a M.Div. from Southwestern Seminary and a B.A. From Palm Beach Atlantic University. He was a church planter for 20 years before the ministry at Miami Baptist. He is the President of Baptist World Charities, a lay missions ministry funding mechanism for both local and foreign missions church based short term projects. Rob is the son of IMB missionaries and grew up both in the United States and over seas, where he became fluent in Spanish. He will be presenting his recently written books on Men’s Mentoring called The Xristos Factor at the National Renovate Conference. This material can literally reverse the leadership vacuum of men in the local church.
