Elly makes jokes when she is nervous. And she's nervous often. So the majority of her work involves nervous jokes.

Her favorite person to make jokes about is herself. Fortunately she does a great deal of embarrassing things in extremely public situations so she has no shortage of material.

When her oncologist suggested learning a new language to help recover from chemo brain, Elly chose to learn HTML which led to the creation of her blog, in April 2009. Online, her writing has been featured at NYTimes.com, Real Simple Magazine, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Babble (a Disney property), Scary Mommy, YourTango, and a shocking number of now-defunct sites. Additionally, her work has appeared in print in O Magazine and several anthologies.

She really, really hates writing in the third person.

She will keep going though because she is so freaking excited to have her first full-length book AMONGST THE LIBERAL ELITE released this fall on powerHouse Books and she can not shut up about it.
