C.G. Burke was born in a tiny cabin in the hills of Mendocino County, California. Since then she has grown much taller and older. Where height and age is a bonus, she has taught middle school, specifically 8th grade, for over 10 years and hasn't run screaming from the building yet. Besides writing, she enjoys gardening, traveling with her husband, and exploring the Pacific Northwest, her home.
After a recurrence of breast cancer, Burke has decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a poor, starving artist with words as her medium. She read somewhere that you are supposed to write what you know, and since she knows a lot about middle school, having once herself suffered through it, as well as having guided hundreds of students through their final year as a "tween", she has started her writing debut with a book straight from her teaching experiences. The Daphne Mortimore series is focused on the issues that plague middle school students today but written in a way that any adult could also relate to and enjoy. With a dash of humor and a healthy dose of mystery, Daphne will learn what it takes to be ready for high school and beyond.
