Penny Miller

Penny's first job was as a supervisor. Talk about jumping into the deep end of the pool without a life jacket!

Fortunately, that job was in the United States Air Force. The armed forces believe strongly in training, coaching and mentoring leaders at all levels. The armed forces know that the people who have the greatest influence in an organization are the noncommissioned officers, who have the greatest touch on the people who actually do the work. Thanks to a lot of help from the NCOs in her unit, both in that first assignment and the assignments that followed, Penny learned a lot about leading those people in the trenches who actually make sure the organization is successful.

Following her 21-year career, she retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving as a squadron commander for a support squadron. She entered corporate HR for a time, then started her company, Venture HRO, LLC in 2007. Her passion is training and coaching managers at all levels, but especially frontline managers.

Penny and her husband, Bryan, have been married for 37 years. They have two grown children and two of the most adorable grandchildren ever! In her spare time, Penny enjoys birdwatching, gardening, cooking (and eating), reading, and participating in various citizen science projects.
