Robert Alan Harris

In 1949, Bob (Robert Alan) Harris was born, dragged up and pitifully educated in Swansea. After gaining the required number of passes he was spat out of the education system and, armed with a Local Authority Certificate he set out to earn a living as a typewriter mechanic, a job he loved. The onset of computers meant he was already a dinosaur. After various moves into various trades where he was just a number on a clock card, Bob decided to make his keen interest in cycling, a vocation. Twenty years later due to a recession over which neither had any control Bob and his wife Julia saw their business taken away by bankruptcy. 5 years later they picked up the pieces and started again, vowing to never let the same thing happen again, and it didn't. Bob had always felt he could write and that there was a story inside somewhere. He had always written even, in the bad times, and there were plenty of those. While living and working in Lincolnshire a friend (Andrew Stancombe) mentioned he too had always wanted to write and the idea for 'A CONFLICT OF IDEALS' was born. Both men felt a real sense of achievement when it was completed.

Bob and Julia have retired back to their native Swansea. Bob cannot imagine a day without writing and he particularly likes writing for the stage. He has had one play performed on stage. He is also an active member of the Dulais River Writers writing group and has contributed to their anthology entitled 'Droplets of ink'.
