W. Michael Gray enthusiastically embraces his role as a teacher. His teaching philosophy has been honed through a forty-year career in higher education, during which he has been recognized twice in Who's Who in American Education and three times in Who's Who Among America's Teachers. He was one of twenty pairs of faculty selected for the 1992-1995 national NSF Scientist-Educator Teams (SET). It was during the SET program that the seed of a passion to develop teaching faculty was planted. In 2004 he founded the Summer Institute in Teaching Science (SITS) and he continues as its director today.
