Jacqueline Ridge

Jacqueline Ridge left her position as a Mechanical Engineer in the manufacturing field to be a stay-at-home mother to her two young daughters. With avid imaginations and a strong desire to learn, her children spend hours a day reading books with their mother. Very early into her children's lives, Ridge recognized a disconnect between the messages the books were teaching her children and the messages that she was trying to teach her children. Specifically, the majority of the books they read focused on strong male roles with females often playing timid, plain, or otherwise inferior roles.

Simply, this is unacceptable for our young female generation.

Ridge started her writing career by introducing a series of books entitled Colors of Character. Each book is titled in a different color and features all female roles. A different character strength is highlighted in each story, empowering young readers to become strong, confident, empathetic women.

Ridge continued her writing to the next age range with her series, Suzie Socket. This series follows a 10-year-old girl with an interest in home and auto repair. Each chapter book documents a basic repair that all women should be able to do. With a strong focus on the problem solving process, the Suzie Socket series encourages readers to take an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.
