R.D. Thomas

R D. Thomas had the good fortune of a childhood in the Pacific Northwest; the land of tall trees, the Puget Sound, and snow capped mountains. All of which offered him daily reminders that the contrivances of man stood pale alongside the beauty of nature.

His college years did not lead him to a literary field. A degree in engineering and a career in the world of “ones” and “zeros” have been his means of support. The work has taken him to numerous countries on various continents and he has never been disappointed with any of his travels.

Yet as many of us know, ones path in life has many twists with different possibilities presented around every turn. A notion chanced upon while in youthful solitude, finally found its way to paper as a two paragraph synopses for a story. Further ruminations generated an index of ideas for a book which was eventually brought to fruition by way of one full chapter of prose. Those first attempts at writing were many months of frustrated typing as an engineering discipline does not readily lend itself to the craft of weaving words.

But persistence proved an excellent friend and after five years of effort a novel was completed. The manuscript was well received by family members - an audience who try their hardest not to hurt the feelings of a relative. The next group of unbiased readers was his good natured neighbors. They too, were extremely polite with their critiques and encouraged publishing as the next logical step. And so, Reiben finally found his way to print.

R. D. Thomas currently lives in Colorado with his wife, two youngest children, and a dog that is full of silliness with a smidgen of canine sense.
