Nancy Cupp

Hi, I’m Nancy Cupp. I started writing at the age of sixty. Although I dabbled a tiny bit while taking college courses in my early fifties, I didn’t set out to become a writer. I was too busy trying to earn a living. I worked a few factory jobs but ended up as an over-the-road truck driver. I’ve taken early retirement, spending time at home in rural Minnesota with my two horses, wicked cats, and neurotic dog.

Horses have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I've done pretty much all things horsey, from trail riding to Dressage. I love learning all the things my horses teach me, both in and out of the saddle.

While my first books were not about horses, I've discovered that I enjoy writing about them the most. I love weaving little nuggets of horse wisdom into my books. Reading Black Beauty, The Black Stallion, Misty of Chincoteague, and countless other horse books as a child are where I learned much of my basic horse knowledge.

I've dedicated a great deal of time to learning dressage so that I can ride in harmony with my horse. I enjoy giving a few riding lessons as well, watching the young faces light up as they learn how to communicate with an animal many times their size. My goal is to make the horse's job as pleasurable as possible.
