Biju P. R.

Dr. Biju P. R. is an academic and author, currently serving as Professor of Political Science at Government Brennen College, Thalassery, Kerala, India. His wide-ranging research interests include the social implications of artificial intelligence, the societal effects of fake news, the cultural expressions of romance in India, the impact of Internet pornography, and the role of social media in shaping political and social processes. Dr. Biju’s body of work, including Political Internet (Routledge, 2016), Intimate Speakers (Fingerprint!, 2017), Selfie Sex (Kalamos, 2018), Slave Technology (Rupa, 2019), We Are Products (Rupa, 2023), and Automated Lies (Palgrave, 2024), reflects his diverse research expertise. He has also published numerous scholarly papers in leading journals such as AI & Society and the Journal of Social Computing. His current research deals with themes of love and democracy, as well as the influence of Hindu scriptures on contemporary views of artificial systems. In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Biju serves as a reviewer for several prominent academic journals, as well extends consultancy services to several private and public bodies in the domain of education and other related areas.
