Josiah Coates

Josiah Coates earned his MBA from Duke University and works as an engineer for a major international shipping company. He has spent his career working as an engineer for shipowners in New York City, Bristol UK, Washington DC, Boston and Miami.

Having used math in a workplace setting for over 17 years, he has observed a lack of basic math understanding at the professional level. His intention is to provide simple but comprehensive text to explain the basics of the core math courses. He is the author of three math textbooks.

Mr. Coates was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, and studied at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. He also has a masters from Stevens Institute of Technology. He lives in Key Biscayne with his wife and two sons.
