Hi Y'all,

Yes, I'm southern. I was born and raised in Georgia, so I speak southern. And I write southern, using colloguialisms that are familiar to anyone from the South. I grew up in a large family where stories were told and retold, from one generation to the next. I cherished those stories that connected me to my heritage.

After raising my sons, graduating from college as a nontraditional student, and retiring from my small hometown's local school system, my alma mater, I needed an interesting hobby. As I have always enjoyed writing, I decided to write my memoir, the story of my husband and me and the love and life we shared. The memoir was intended for only our Grandangels, to be handed down to their children. But in the process of writing "Love, Life, & Broken Rainbows," I realized that my story was one to which others could relate. The book transcends time and generations and includes struggles inherent in all of our lives. At it's core it is a love story, one of young love, family, loss, and grief.

My life has since unfolded in ways I didn't expect; there was another story waiting to be told. I have completed and published my second memoir "Better Things", which is now available in both paperback and for Kindle. The book is a journey of starting over, a journey of self-discovery, and a journey that led to a life I never could have imagined...

One question I'm asked at various book signings is if I make up any of the stories I share. With a laugh I answer, "Absolutely not." There's no need in creating or embellishing the stories of my life, which has been a journey filled with hills and valleys and blessings.
