Eric van den Hoogen

Eric van den Hoogen (1955)lived the first 28 years of his life in the Netherlands. In 1983 he moved to Florida, together with his high school sweetheart, Antoinette. After owning several businesses they both ended up in tennis. Eric as a certified teacher and Antoinette as a certified stringer. After several years working for somebody else, they eventually got their own tennis business in Aruba, a Dutch island in the Caribbean. Five years later they sold the business and returned to Florida. This is where Eric's writing career started with a weekly column about local tennis events. The one and only thing they didn't like about Florida were the hot humid summers. In order to get away from those they took on a seasonal job in Alaska. What was planned as a try-out for one season turned into a stint of 15 years. It was there that Eric started thinking about writing a fiction novel. He figured after writing weekly columns for 16 years he probably could write a book. His first crime novel was 'Undercover Alaska', followed by 'Adumbration', 'Sabbatical' and his latest 'Cast Off'. His wife of 41 years is the editor of his novels. They consider themselves world citizens and live by the slogan 'A day without laughter is a day lost'.
