Linda Scheller

Linda Scheller was born in Schenectady, New York and now lives in California's Central Valley. Her poetry, book reviews, and plays have been published in Terrain, The American Journal of Poetry, Slipstream, Poem, Notre Dame Review, Poetry East, Connecticut River Review, Steam Ticket, Hawaii Pacific Review, Entropy, and many other journals and anthologies. Fierce Light is her book of persona poetry based on extensive research into the lives and accomplishments of 36 women from world history and culture. In 2020, two poems from Fierce Light received the Catherine Cushman Leach Award for Poetry. A retired public school teacher, Ms. Scheller leads writing workshops, serves on the board of the Modesto Stanislaus Poetry Center, and volunteers with KCBP, the Modesto Peace Life Center's community radio station. Her second book of poetry, Wind and Children, will be published in 2022 by Main Street Rag Press.
