Although a qualified lawyer, ANJALY THOMAS is a true adventurer at heart and a "writer of sorts", as she calls herself. Having travelled nearly half the world by herself, she says her experiences have 'humanised' her.

Through the course of her adventures, she has backpacked, hiked, trekked, climbed mountains, thumbed rides, capitalised on kindness of absolute strangers or slept on park benches and lived to tell the tell.

Of all the countries she has travelled to, North Korea was, by far the one place that left a lasting impression. "Nothing was the same again," she says. "When I returned from Papua New Guinea after trekking Kokoda Trail, I thought it was the ultimate adventure - until I went to North Korea. That changed me as a person."

Her first book ALMOST INTREPID was about how a simple Indian girl with big dreams and a law degree broke all rules and set about creating her own path in this world. Her second book THERE ARE NO GODS IN NORTH KOREA (May 6, 2016) talks primarily about how she traveled to the world's most secretive nation under the guise of a school teacher and how her subsequent travels in various parts of the world led her to starting her initiative TRAVEL & RELIEF.

Anjaly Thomas is also an author for Lonely Planet and authored UAE Country Guide (Dubai) besides being a columnist for various magazines and publications.
