M. B. Manthe

M. B. Manthe often feels that she needs a haircut, although her husband, who is a fine partner in many respects, always feels that her hair should be longer.

She has written poetry since her teens -- some of it quite good, but much of it truly bad, especially those early efforts. Her writing grew out of a combination of her love of books and reading, and her struggles with depression. She published a book of poetry in 2015 entitled Happenings, Heartbeats, and Mental Breakdowns. The title comes from the poem "Road Work," and also reflects Manthe's regard for truth in advertising. She always hoped to write fiction, but that's a goal for another pen name.

Manthe was born and raised in Massachusetts, attended graduate school in Arizona, and now lives in Kansas. She has a B.A. in English Language and Literature, and an M.A. in Library Science. She and her husband have two 20-something sons, two dogs, and two cats. She also has almost 1500 books (not counting the digital library!), and never enough time to read.
