Pierre L. Nichols

Pierre L. Nichols, grew up in Chicago and Oak Park, Illinois. After a scholarship to the Chicago Art Institute, he joined the army serving overseas as a combat photographer. Once out of the service he intended to return to Thailand to do missionary work, only to find a new direction helping disadvantaged youth at a ranch for boys in New Mexico. While working at the ranch, he discovered sexual abuse and swore on a little boys grave he would find out what was going on and work to resolve it. It was the start of years of questioning and personal heartbreak before a solution was finally achieved. Of all his adventures to include working with youth, migrant workers and street people, Nichols has maintained a sense of purpose to helping others. As a writer of poetry and an artist in mixed media, he continues to be involved in creativity in Silver City, where he presently lives.
