Alexandra Grant

Alexandra Grant has been an optician, running her own practice for many years, before retiring early in order to concentrate on her two great interests – writing and history. She went on to take an Open University degree in Arts, Literature and History subjects, before finally devoting herself to writing.

She has travelled much in Greece, both by car and in sailing boats, and has spent years researching in order to present people and events as truthfully as possible. She has always loved Greece and was first inspired to write this book by a tradition in her family of a tenuous marital connection with a descendant of the Palaeologos Emperors, who moved to Cornwall in the 17th century.

'The Mulberry Tree' is the first book of the Palaeologos trilogy and the second book, 'Constantine', has now been published. This book covers the period up until the coronation of Thomas’ brother as the last Emperor of Byzantium in the year 1449.

Alexandra is now hard at work on the third and last book 'The Double-headed Eagle'.
