Julie Barker

Julie is a children's book author, born and raised in west Texas. Surrounded by the ranching heritage, Julie felt drawn to share this way of life through the adventures of the thoughtful little jackrabbit, Hitchin' Post. Julie shares the love of farming and ranching with her husband, Nick, and their three children. She is a pre-K teacher in Quanah, Texas, which allows her the ability to share her love of children's books with her students.

Hitchin' Post marks Julie's debut into the world of children's literature. What began as a fun, creative project with her mother, Carolyn Altman, soon developed into her first completed children's book. Carolyn is the illustrator of the bright and cheerful images found in Hitchin' Post, which no doubt brings to life the adventures of this caring and lovable jackrabbit.

Julie's second book, Hitchin' Post and the Tornado Twistin' 4th of July Celebration, continues the adventures of old Hitch and his cowboy friends on the 6B Ranch. Then released this fall, is the third book in the series, Hitchin' Post and the 6B Ranch Kids.
