Hi! I'm not very good with technology so I hope this turns out, though I have my husband to help so it should be fine. I was born in Vernal, UT, yes, Dinosaur land. In fact, I used to work at the quarry in the Dinosaur National Monument when I was in high school. Growing up, the majority of my life was spent on the mountain, on the basketball court, reading, or at church. Now? Well... I spend my time cleaning (which I'm horrible at and procrastinate), taking care of kids, church (yep, still), and I try to squeeze in some writing as well. I still love to read and I prefer paperbacks but I simply can't afford to buy all the books I want, so my wonderful husband gave me a kindle for Valentine's Day, and away I went. It's nice to read while we're driving at night since I can't turn the light on, otherwise he can't see as well to drive. I no longer live in Vernal, now I'm on the Wasatch Front with my husband, kids, and dogs. I still have a view of the mountain, but it's not quite the same since they're different than the ones I ran around on as a kid/teen, but they're still beautiful. I am lucky to be able to be a stay at home mom. My kids are my life. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have had many callings in the church, and currently I'm the Personal Progress Leader in the Young Women's Program. In the YW we have 8 values, Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity, and Virtue. Each value has goals and a project that the girls can complete. It's not required (I didn't do it as a teen, but I'm doing it now as a leader). Completing these goals and projects helps the girls create habits of service, prayer, scripture reading, journal keeping, etc... My job is to encourage, help as needed, and keep track of their progress. Yes, I'm dealing with teenage girls so they can be a challenge, but I love them dearly. I am also the Funeral Committee Coordinator. When someone passes away I am in charge of organizing the food and making sure the luncheon runs smoothly. I love this calling too. I have a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in history. I didn't graduate until I was in my mid to late 20's, but I did it. My kids were at the ceremony, though they're too young to remember. I love winter! It's my favorite season and I love snow. I complain all summer long about the heat and look forward to the cold. I've tried to get my husband to move to Alaska, but he ignores me. I play piano, not well, but I try. I'm getting better. I understand the concepts, and actually, I teach lessons, but I get nervous playing in front of people, and when people sing along. Great for a pianist, right? My favorite actor is hands down John Wayne, and I adore Maureen O'Hara. I try to mention Duke and all my books. Of course there are some that I can't, such as in Regency times or Medieval times, so I'll pay homage to him in details, such as a character's name, or his/her likes and dislikes might have something to do with a character in one of his movies. I do the same with my religion. I try to mention the church, if I can't, same situation with the times the books are set in, I like to have my characters be Christian. I'm not sure what else I can put so I'll leave off for now. If I think of anything I'll come back. See ya later!
