Sri Rao

Sri Rao is a filmmaker, author, and lifestyle expert in New York City. He has been a successful television screenwriter for over a decade, in both comedy and drama, selling pilots to networks such as ABC, NBC, Fox, the CW, Bravo, BBC America, and Nickelodeon.

Sri is uniquely positioned as one of the few Americans to have worked in Bollywood, India's musical movie industry. He wrote the film "Baar Baar Dekho" ("Look Again & Again"), featuring 2016's #1 dance song, "Kala Chashma" (with over 250 million views on YouTube). He also produced the films "New York" and "Badmaash Company" for India's leading movie studio, Yash Raj Films. His book "Bollywood Kitchen" (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2017) combines two of Sri's passions -- food and films -- by pairing top Bollywood musicals with home-cooked Indian recipes.

Born and raised in Pennsylvania to parents who immigrated from India, Sri has spent his life bridging cultures. He is passionate about using his unique point-of-view as a cultural ambassador to help people translate the rich traditions of his Indian heritage – health and wellness, food, beauty, and design – to fit their modern lifestyle. He has spoken at the White House on the topic of cultural identity among young Indian-Americans, while his work has been profiled in publications including The New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, and TV Guide.

Sri is an honors graduate of the Wharton School. He is represented by CAA. www.NewYorkSri.com
