Stuart L Brogden

Having been "baptized" into the church at age 8, Stuart Brogden was saved at age 38. He quickly began service as a deacon and Sunday School teacher in a Baptist church. With increased study of the Bible, it became evident how many things in Baptist church life did not line up with the Bible. With service in other Baptist churches and training for service as a Baptist elder/pastor, the role played by history in the development of Christian doctrine and life became vividly evident. It was then that he was baptized, having seen the importance of the two ordinances give the church. Since 2000, Stuart has been collecting, organizing, and distributing a digital Baptist library and briefly served as a Baptist pastor in a small church. His first book, Captive to the Word of God, reviews what it means to be Baptist and how we should look at the Reformation and covenants in Scripture. It ends with a practical look at how we should "do church" as Baptists - people of the book, as we were once known. This book is the culmination of some 15 years of study on these various topics.
