Mr Joe Wells

I am a retired actor who had to give up the profession when my mother developed dementia and I became her full time carer, however during this period I kept my creative side stimulated by firstly writing a number of books for my friend's children.

My next publication was a collection of plays called The Plays Wot I Wrote, fans of Morcambe and Wise may see the inspiration for the title.

Having an interest in the forties I next wrote a play about a friendly fire incident which happened on the third day of World War Two where two of our airmen were shot down, only one of whom survived. The event is known as The Battle of Barking Creek and is not general knowledge as I believe it may still be under the Official Secrets Act.

The latest of my books is The Case of the Grease Monkey's Uncle, set just after the war it tells the story of two quite different young men and their fledgling detective agency which they set up after being demobbed and involves, criminality, murder, intrigue, heroism and occasionally downright stupidity.
