Since before I could read I made up stories which my mother sometimes recorded. This interest continued throughout my life. In fourth grade, while writing a mystery ala Nancy Drew, My teacher was kind enough to let me read a chapter every Friday. On the playground kids would ask ‘Is she going to find the treasure?’ ‘You have to wait and see’. But I didn’t know either! Saved by the bell in June, I never had to answer that question.
Okay, let’s get serious. My novels include Mother Lode, Driven to Rage, The Gwen Harris Mystery Series including A Sleuth in Sausalito, A Sleuth in the Haven, and A Sleuth in the Summer of Love. Two have received national and local awards. Soon to be born is my sixth book Slippery Slope.
My second writing interest is for theatre. Two of my plays, Sandcastles, and Lifelines were chosen for professional productions on the East Coast. Several others were finalists in contests. There have been community productions of my plays on both coasts and in Michigan. I also enjoy directing and acting, believing my experience on stage has informed my writing.
Two books of poetry, and three children's books are published. My poems are in Robert Bly’s Great Mother Conference Anthology, Hot Flashes and Marin Poetry Anthology. I’ve taught Poetry, the Novel, and Memoir in Dominican University's, for the Marin Writers’ Center, at my home and church.
My educational background includes a Bachelor’s and Masters Degree from the University of Michigan, where I majored in creative writing and education. I taught in Ann Arbor, Michigan for many years before coming to the Bay Area of California in the late 90s where the weather is perfect!
