David Ihrig

David Ihrig is an actor and a teacher who offers a systematic approach to acting using principles from the cognitive, psychological, and neurobiological disciplines. As an adjunct professor of drama at the University of California Irvine, he designed the university’s first interdisciplinary course on the science of acting. He’s a founding member of The Artistic Brain, a theme of the UCI Brain Initiative, one of the country’s only brain initiatives devoting resources to an artistic theme. He most recently established the Irvine Theater Company, which integrates the brain-based model into all aspects of dramatic creativity while incorporating technology to enhance the audience experience. Lastly, he plays sand volleyball and drinks tequila every Wednesday in a weekly ritual that spans over twenty-five years.
