Marv Berkowitz

Marv Berkowitz was born in Brooklyn, New York, lived on Long Island and moved to Michigan in 1978. He was a high school science teacher before working in the pharmaceutical industry for 40 years. He was interested in cars from his youth and engaged in car club activities such as track, autocross and defensive driving beginning in 2000. He has served as a teen driving instructor for many years and founded Fathers Against Distracted Driving, a Michigan based non-profit in 2014. FADD is dedicated to changing the driving habits of Americans to reduce the deaths, injuries and economic losses due to distracted driving. In 2016, NSC estimates 40,200 American crash deaths. Marv makes presentations and has discussions with many driver groups with concentration on teens. He also visits with social, civic, fraternal, senior, library, business, etc.

He works closely with local police and educational organizations. FADD received 2015 National Public Service Award from the Mercedes Benz Club of America. Marv has been interviewed many times on local TV and NPR stations regarding distracted driving.

He strongly affirms that we need to confront this epidemic "head on."
