Rafael S. de Souza

Rafael S. de Souza is a Brazilian astrophysicist born in the city of Rio de Janeiro 27 June 1980. Rafael is the founder of the Cosmostatistics Initiative (COIN) and current Vice-President for development of the International Astrostatistics Association (IAA). He authored dozens of peer-reviewed scientific journals in astronomy, physics, and computer science. His work "The Overlooked Potential of Generalized Linear Models in Astronomy-III: Bayesian Negative Binomial Regression and Globular Cluster Populations" won the 2016 IAA award for outstanding publications in astrostatistics. In the free-time, Rafael practices bodybuilding and running whenever possible.
