Sarah Rae Gilbert

Sarah Rae Gilbert is an American writer, born in 1992 to two Californian entrepreneurs.

From an early age, Gilbert was regarded as a talented poet, lyricist, short-story writer, pianist, and actress. While attending Chapman University, Gilbert was encouraged by mentors and peers to pursue her creative strengths in a professional capacity. It was shortly after earning her undergraduate degree when inspiration struck in the form of a four-legged, furry friend. Gilbert felt inclined to write a short story about love, diversity and individuality after watching how her pet Rottweiler interacted with children and people with special needs. It was initially meant to be a gift for her family but that all changed when the story about Daisy was being shared at an impressive rate and triggering positive reactions. Before long, Daisy the Rottie was a social media micro-influencer spreading messages of joy and happiness. With a platform in place, Gilbert decided to make her story available for others to enjoy. The story was titled "The Tale of My Tail" and published and presented to the public in 2016. It was the first time one of her works was published and it was the story that launched what would come to be known as the Daisy the Rottie children's book series.
