Don Surber

Don Surber is a retired newspaperman who lives in Poca, West Virginia, with his wife of 40 years, Lou Ann. They have three adult children.

While serving in the US Army, Surber worked on the Fort Stewart Patriot and the Stars and Stripes. He worked as a proofreader for the Wall Street Journal while in college, graduating from Cleveland State University in 1981.

Surber has worked for the Parkersburg News and the Charleston Daily Mail, both in West Virginia. He is the author of Exceptional Americans and Exceptional Americans 2.

The rise of Donald Trump to the presidency, and the news media's inability to foresee it have greatly amused Surber. Using wit, logic, and the media's own words and predictions against them, he wrote Trump the Press: Don Surber’s Take on How the Pundits Blew the 2016 Republican Race, and Trump the Establishment, which covered the general election.

The media's refusal to accept Trump's election prompted Surber to again research what they said and compare it to what really happened. The result was Fake News Follies of 2017, which chronicles the media's ill-fated war with the most wily and successful president since Ronald Reagan.

Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit wrote, "You should listen to Surber, one of the few who clearly saw the Trump Train coming. Scholars of this election should read his Trump The Press. But probably won’t."
