I'm a Yorkshireman, born in 1951. I've lived in San Francisco, where I fell in love, and stayed, since 1979. I write memoir: perfect moments of mystery, wonder, and the beauty in everyday life. I've been a herring fisherman, sheep farmer, cabinetmaker, actor, museum technician - to name but a few. I'm a father. A baseball fan. A student of what it means to be human. I weep openly and often, and no longer apologize. It's too late now. I laugh to an equal degree. Life is to be loved.
