Gillian is a writer and educator who lives in the beautiful Scottish countryside. A single parent, Gillian made her mission in life to be a fantastic role model to her two children who have now successfully left the nest.
Originally a teacher, Gillian spent over 30 years in Asia, including Japan and Hong Kong. While in Hong Kong, she was fortunate enough to train in aromatherapy massage and began to follow a more holistic approach to nutrition and health. She started to study meditation and mindfulness in 2001 and this had a profound effect on her outlook on life. On returning to the UK, she continued her studies both locally and with the Open University.
She uses meditation to Book-End her days, meditating first thing in the morning and last thing at night. This practice keeps her grounded and means that she rarely suffer from stress. Taking the best of the teachings, her book (MEDITATION: HOW TO MEDITATE AND BE MINDFUL: A Guide to Mindfulness and Meditation Techniques proven to Relieve Stress, Depression, Panic Attacks & Anxiety and find complete Peace and Happiness) outlines a range of alternative practices to allow you to find something which just might work for you. She is now working on Guided Meditations to accompany the book.
Gillian also writes Crime and won the Dundee University Val McDermid Prize for her debut novel Crossing the Line and the Scottish Association of Writers' Constable Stag for her 2nd novel, Act of Betrayal. She is the author of The Domino Effect, a graphical short story, and has appeared in a number of anthologies. She is a member of Angus Writing Circle which counts a number of published authors in its number.
