Gary Carl Love

For more than 35 years, Gary C Love has spent many hours on the water fishing & learning. With a creative streak for fishing given by his Native American Great Grandmother from the time he was a small child, his love of all things fishing, runs very deep, woven into the fiber of his being, and driven by inspiration. Most notably, Gary’s father, Gary Love Sr. And his late Grandpa, Frank Jackson, two of his primary sources of inspiration. Sitting at a coffee table, Gary designed a simple inline buck tail spinner for Northern Pike in 1993. He spent a few years fishing with his own creations and as his success with them grew. Gary’s family and friends wanted to fish with his creations also. Obsessed with Northern Pike, Gary’s dad gave him the nickname, “The Jackfish” in 1995, Gary’s favorite species fish, drove him to continue building lures for his family and friends. He met his wife Laura in 1997 they married in 1999. Pushed by Laura and his family and friends, Gary was encouraged to take his lures to the next level, the natural name for his company, given by his dad of course, “Jackfish” Lures now under GCL Fishing.

Born in Los Angeles California with Native American & English Canadian roots an Avid Die Hard LA Kings Fan. Gary has lived & fished all over North America, he grew up in California, and has lived in Colorado and Arizona. Gary moved to Canada in 1991. His current home in Athabasca Alberta, Canada where he also serves as a part time school bus driver for his community. Gary has fished many waters, from as far south as Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Minnesota, Montana, South Dakota, Texas, Wyoming, and the Pacific Ocean. In Canada, Gary has fished Alberta, top to bottom, Saskatchewan, and as well beautiful British Columbia’s trout, and salmon, have been a major source of fun for Gary.

Gary is an accomplished professional angler, with many skills, both on and off the water. Gary has taught Kids associated with the “Junior Forest Wardens” and “Wild by Nature” groups for many years. Through that experience he could author his F.I.S.H Education program. With encouragement given him from his late mother in law Eva Makarowski, Gary's "Fishing with the Jackfish" books, now exist to encourage people to enjoy the sport of fishing, family, friends and nature. Gary is currently working on his third book, still married to his best friend Laura and his company GCL Fishing / Jackfish Lures carries on so his friends and family can keep after the fish. He would tell you himself, “Keep the fish Busy”.
