There are few experiences as deliriously delightful and yet as perplexing and sometimes frazzling as raising a puppy. I thought I loved my dog when she first arrived, perfect and tiny at 8½ weeks old, on a plane from Arizona. But that was just the beginning. I had the journey of learning not just about dogs but also about the dog-person I am still joyfully sharing my life with. This book is, among other things, my tribute to her and the unexpected pleasure she brings to all that know her.
