First and foremost, I am a follower of Jesus. I'm married to a wonderful husband. We have three amazing grown children and three grown children by marriage. I am a Mamae to five incredible grandsons. I taught Kindergarten for 26 years and I loved it. Children have such creative minds and they love to laugh. I love to laugh too, so we got along well. Those years taught me how to see the world through the eyes of a child. I learned so much from them.
I never knew I liked to write until our special class mascot, Brown Bear, got put in the toilet. The children were devastated. Our principal confirmed our worst fears. Brown Bear, our stuffed toy bear, was gone. The life had seeped out of him into the toilet! Our kind janitor put him in a body bag and carried him away. I realized after that I had to tell our staff exactly what happened. Thus began my journey of using words to tell a story, funny or sad, encouraging or hopeful.
I've written three children's books and three devotional books. The words I’ve written come from my heart. I discovered over the years that I have a love for sharing God’s word with hurting people. The scripture is full of words to encourage,
to bless, to give hope and to direct. I love writing children's books that teach a lesson, too.
My desire is to share some of these with you. My prayer is that God will bring His words to life. That He alone will speak to you so gently as only He can. That He will reveal Himself to you in ways you never thought possible.
I never ever thought of myself as an author but I am realizing now that God sees me in ways I’ve never seen myself. I love that He has given me this platform to be like the ‘dew of the morning’. Dew refreshes everything it touches. Only God can do that. May you be refreshed as His words fall gently on your heart. May His dew be like refreshing rain on a weary soul.
And may you begin to laugh too!
A song by Amanda Cook called “The Voyage”, written in 2015, expresses my life so well.
“You're afraid, but you can hear adventure calling.
There's a rush
of adrenaline to your bones.
What you make of this moment changes everything.
What if the path you choose
becomes a road.
What if the path you take
becomes your home.
The wind is high,
but the pressure's off.
I'll send the rain
wherever we end up.
Set your sights.
Set them far beyond the familiar
in the rising tides.
Feel the rhythm of your heart.
Lift your head
now the wind and waves don't matter.”
And a song by Fanny J. Crosby, “Rescue the Perishing”, written in 1869, expresses the desire of my heart for my books.
"Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness,
Chords that were broken will vibrate once more."
