Mike Simmons was born in 1960 in the northern tip of New Jersey. During his childhood, Mike found himself dragged into many situations where lies and deception were a normal part of life. Through the grace of God, these situations caused a burning desire for truth to well up in Mike's heart. Much of Mike's childhood and teen years were filled with many deeply painful events. It was God's ability to bring healing and freedom to Mike that led him to have a deep love for God.
Mike's goal for his adult life was to become an astronaut. However, poor vision caused that dream to fade. Instead Mike chose to pursue a career in mechanical engineering. It was just two months before he graduated college that he gave his life to Jesus Christ. After graduating from college, Mike left the east coast and moved to Los Angeles. He began his career as well as his church life there. For the past 33 years, Mike has served God in many different capacities. In 2009, Mike Graduated Bible college and pursued full-time ministry.
Mike has never forgotten his early years and that strong desire for truth. He gladly brings that careful (engineering style) pursuit for truth into both his ministry and his Biblical studies. But he is not all about seriousness. Mike has a clever wit and has a gift of bringing to light God's truths through many humorous life experiences.
One of Mike's favorite "embarrassing moments" was when he tried to make a pumpkin pie for the first time. Mike did not have many of the required ingredients to make the pie. So he tried substituting the required ingredients with what he had on hand. Laughter fills his eyes as he states: "The dog would not even eat that pie!" But then, Mike relates that to the recipe book that God gave us. The Holy Bible is God's recipe book for our lives. Should we choose to make changes or substitutions, "Even a dog would not want to eat our lives."
