Earla Dawn Legault

Earla has co-written and illustrated Living with Sibling Grief: Imagining a Way Forward with her buddy Monica Murphy. Meeting Monica solidified that a sibling grief buddy was the person to support her while continuing to process her sister's death.

While writing their book, Earla led weekly online creative expression sessions during COVID-19 and sibling grief peer support groups after the pandemic. It is Earla's privilege to have led the Drawing Together #32 session with Graphic Medicine International, a global community of medical storytelling.

Earla enjoys participating in and volunteering with sibling grief peers, locally or online. She is the 2024 recipient of TCF’s Karen Snepp Outstanding Sibling Award, given to those making significant contributions to fostering and furthering the philosophy of sibling programs.

Earla turned to what supported her after her younger sister Leigh-Ann died: writing, drawing and nature. Retired from library work, Earla enjoys watercolour sketching, writing and being ‘Baba’ to five fab grandchildren. She enjoys her garden with either pruning shears for picking herbs or a paintbrush to capture her flowers. She lives in Harrison Hot Springs, BC, Canada, with her husband, Michel, surrounded by forests shrouded with mist in the winter and tourists in the summer.
