Larry Acquaviva

I was born on the east side of Detroit in 1965 where the sentiment in which I became very familiar with was, in essence, nobody cares who you are. It's what the city dictated, and what life with my family created. The second youngest of seven children, I was born into a family that was teetering on edge. My earliest memories are of music and chaos; divorce, abuse, the downfall of the city and a sense that I better make my own way if I wanted a chance to become my own man.

As I grew, creativity kept me sane. Writing, drawing, acting and a never-ending song in my head allowed for me to pursue what I felt was in my heart; dreams from beyond, and a life yet to be discovered. The city was dying, my family was scattered and the future looked bleak. So I left the city the first chance I got, and from there, continually chased my dreams.

Now I am older, and free to live the life I was meant to lead, in order to remain sane. I write daily, hear - and play - music continuously throughout every day, and feed my mind, body and soul with words, melodies, phrases and rhythms that wash over me like the next gentle breeze.

To date, I have written eight books with two more in the works, have about ten volumes of a science fiction story - "The Valley of Dreams," complete with more than 200 illustrations, that is close to being finished - endless poems and drawings that I have produced over the years, and ideas for about twenty more books stored in my head.

I am also a musician and am currently in two bands; The Honey Sliders and Acquaviva, have written hundreds of songs, recorded more than twenty albums and play live continuously.

I live in Athens, Ga. with my high school sweetheart, Andrea (we married in 1994) and our cat Player, and have no children.
