James B. Gould

James Gould has taught at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, Illinois, since 1988. Jim was born in Africa, where his parents were missionaries working in theological education and leprosy healthcare. He lived there until age 17, when he returned to his parents' home country of Canada. After college in Canada, Jim worked in television production before returning to graduate school, moving to the U.S. and becoming a teacher. Jim has graduate degrees in both Philosophy and Theology. Jim serves on the ethics committees for the a hospital system and a large hospice organization -- and has been active in disability advocacy as well. Jim is married to Jenna Korenstra, an ESL teacher. He has three adult children -- Becky (a school teacher in Chicago), Sarah (a disability services program director in Oxford, England) and David (who is intellectually and developmentally disabled). Jim has published over 30 articles and book chapters on topics in philosophy, ethics, theology, higher education curriculum, motorcycling and disability -- and he speaks regularly at conferences on higher education. Jim has been riding motorcycles for 45 years; he enjoys canoeing, bicycling and other outdoor activities. He is a member of St. James Episcopal Church in West Dundee, Illinois.
