Hi, I am David Barton and I have a passion to help people reach more of their potential in life. In this bio I would like to share a bit more about who I am.
I have a PhD in Psychology from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and I have worked in various industries, including in clinical practice helping people discover more effective ways to reach their goals and overcome their difficulties.
I live in New Zealand (Dunedin), a wonderful little city in the deep South. I have been married to my wonderful wife Ruan for over 20 years and we have 3 beautiful daughters who are growing up to fast.
I love being physically fit and train at least 5 times per week. My main forms of exercise include running and pushing weights. I truly relish the opportunity to go bush running and spend much of my running time on bush trails around Dunedin. I have my own weights and train in my garage twice weekly. I believe a healthy body produces a healthy and focused mind.
Spiritually I am a Christian, and have been one for most of my life. My faith has guided me through many troubled waters and has kept me on the straight and narrow, enhancing my enjoyment and fulfillment in life.
My other interests include playing music (I'm a guitarist), doing magic tricks and reading and learning. I love learning new skills and am a very good handy man. I am particularity good at wood work, plastering, painting and even carpeting.
The first book I wrote was How to overcome your fear of rejection back in 2011. This was a shot eBook. Recently I completed my first paperback and much bigger work, Achieving Your Best Self. This book is complemented by my practical tool, The Goal Achievers Journal. I started working on these publications while completing my PhD in 2015.
