Jane Elizabeth

Jane Elizabeth is a longtime journalist who has worked at newspapers including The Washington Post, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Raleigh News & Observer, the Virginian-Pilot, and the Richmond Times-Dispatch; and has taught at several universities. She earned a bachelor's degree in English and journalism from Radford University, a master's degree in mass communication from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a media fellowship at Harvard University. She and her husband live on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia where they like to kayak, hike, play with their grandchildren - and often find deer poop, fox poop, snapping turtle poop, egret poop and even coyote poop!

Illustrator Linda Williams lives in Nelson County, Va., where her nearest neighbors are cows. She enjoys helping out at her daughter’s and son-in-law’s farm, Full Circle Farm at Shandan on Dinwiddie County.
