"The ox was inspired by my husband, my mother, and all the other people I see working hard to support themselves and their families every day. The fox was inspired by the idea that the most unlikely presence can come into your life, and if you trust it, follow your gut, and open your heart, it can change your life in ways you may never have imagined. Even if it’s just a meaningful friendship or a wild idea. All it takes is a teensy-weensy bit of courage. I wanted to keep the tone of the poem fun and light, but really, I was thinking about subtle themes that I wanted to hint at. For instance, not just sharing, but sharing without consequence, no matter how much you have to begin with, and no matter what you receive in return." - Lacy Watson
