Adrian Van Young

The Man Who Noticed Everything, Adrian Van Young's first book of fiction, won Black Lawrence Press' 2011 St. Lawrence Book Award, and is available for purchase from Black Lawrence Press. His fiction and non- fiction have been published or are forthcoming in Gigantic, Electric Literature's Recommended Reading, The American Reader, Black Warrior Review, LitHub, Catapult, The Collagist, Conjunctions, The Believer, VICE, Slate, and The New Yorker, among others. He is a regular contributor to the literature website, Electricliterature.com, and the author of The Murder Chronicles: A New Orleans Murder Mystery, a interactive, serialized mystery novella for The-Line-Up.com. In 2008, he was the recipient of a Henfield Foundation Prize and was nominated by Columbia's faculty for inclusion in the Best New American Voices 2010 Anthology. He has twice been nominated by the Pushcart Prize. His first novel, Shadows in Summerland, is out now from ChiZine Publications.

Adrian Van Young has taught writing at Boston College, Boston University and Grub Street Writers, in Boston. Currently, he teaches creative writing at Tulane University and Bard Early College in New Orleans, LA. He received his B.A. in English from Vassar College, and his MFA in fiction from Columbia University, where he formerly taught as well. He lives in New Orleans with his wife Darcy and son Sebastian.
