Andrew L. Wilson grew up among the volcanoes of Washington State, studied theology and languages at Luther Seminary, and received a doctorate in church history from Princeton Theological Seminary. He was top-tier 400m hurdle runner and still holds his college record. He has traveled in more than forty countries on five continents, and speaks several modern languages fluently. He has worked as a carpenter, fork-lift driver, bicycle mechanic, and pastor. His photography has been featured on several magazine covers, and he has published dozens of articles and reviews on subjects varying from paleobiology to the history of hiking shoes. His 1000 mile walk to Rome, following the historical steps of Martin Luther, was his longest, just edging out his thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail through Oregon and Washington. After eight years living in Strasbourg, France, he is at home in St. Paul, Minnesota.
