Darbie Andrews

I am a writer, wife, mother of two young men and school counselor at Red Bluff High School. My home is in northern California, but I'm originally from southern California. The north state is so beautiful and inviting. I love it here where my kids can breathe fresh air and see animals, rivers, mountains, and nature.

Teaching and counseling young people is my calling. My first 12 years of teaching were as a bilingual elementary teacher. I learned Spanish as a second language and I am proud to be bilingual. I love working with kids and helping them learn and grow.

I've been writing since I was young and always dreamed of being a published author. I love the written word and language. Words are powerful and can bring healing and change. Having time to write is one of the greatest gifts. I love being able to put my ideas, feelings, experiences into words that express something that roams around in my head in a disorganized way, but comes out making sense. I have a story published in the Curvy and Confident Chicken Soup for the Soul called "A Woman My Size." I have another one published in Chicken Soup for the Soul Too Funny called, "What does the Dog Say?"

Everyday is a gift and practicing gratitude keeps me focused. I believe in setting goals and working towards bettering our personal lives and the world. I feel a responsibility to leave the world a better place if I can. Helping others and giving my best in all situations is a personal mandate. We should all own our personal version awesomeness and show up for our lives.
