Giovanna Fera

Her life

Giovanna Fera was born in Sanremo (Italy), a small tourist town near the Southern French border. She lived there till the age of seven and then moved to Australia with her family.

At the age of seventeen Giovanna went back to Sanremo for a holiday; while on holiday she visited Rome and fell in love with the eternal city. After living in Rome for twenty years she came back home to her family in Brisbane.

She now lives in Paddington-Brisbane together with her husband Alex Marshall and her two children Valentino and Raphael.

Author

Fourteen years ago Giovanna wrote her first autobiographical novel together with other short stories. Her suspense novel ‘Out of the Storm’ is her first published work. Giovanna has also written 'The Italian Doctor' and the romantic comedy 'The Thong Thief. She is currently working on her new novel.

Artist

Giovanna is a Brisbane city contemporary painter. Her artistic process began as a child. Now her primary source of inspiration for her richly diverse subject matter comes from her surroundings; the beautiful Stradbroke Island where she spends a lot of time, her past memories of Europe and her current experiences. Her spiritual awareness has brought her closer to her surroundings and her work now reflects the beauty the nature around her. Her paintings have a high sense of colour, shape and composition.

Giovanna has completed courses at Brisbane Institute of Art, however, she says she is a self taught artist and has developed her own style due to that.

Her Philosophy

Giovanna Fera recognises the value of Art and Writing as a means of healing.

Giovanna gives her full support in creating more awareness of domestic violence and violence towards youth. She is a volunteer at Rizeup Australia and a supporter of White Ribbon.
