Emma Oxbrow

Emma Oxbrow is a London-based British-Burmese writer of literary and commercial fiction. Her work centres queer and brown women’s voices and lives, blending lyrical prose with immersive historical detail.

Her debut novel, Everything Is Made of Water, explores the fluid boundaries of identity and memory through the eyes of an elderly immigrant woman trying to hold on to the fragments of her life.

Her latest novel, The Unfamiliar Name, is set in Burma during World War II and is a sweeping tale of forbidden love, queer resistance and colonial entanglement.
