The JoJo Mama and the Voodoo Queen was a finalist at the Lonely Seal Film and Music Festival last October. The thirteen-minute version of my first short, The Audition (Bronco’s Dolls Go to Hollywood) was completed July 2019. An abbreviated five-minute version was selected for inclusion in the AT&T Create-A-Thon.
I have a collection of narratives with illustrations before and after commuting on the Harlem Division. I will be submitting the collection to publishers . I've also completed a new novel, Joints, and will be submitting it to publishers in January.
I’ve written, nine full-length plays, three one-act plays, fourteen ten-minute plays and nine screenplays.
My first play, JoJo Mama and the Voodoo Queen, received the panelist favorite award from the late Michael Warren Powell at the Last Frontier Theatre Festival. It was also a runner-up at a Dallas contest. My short play, Fortune Kooky, was produced three years ago at the Tampa Bay Theatre Festival followed by a production of another short play, Fourth-Quarter Pick-Up, August 2019 at the festival. The writer/director/producer, Jeff VanDavis, optioned the play for production later this year. My stories, poetry and illustrations have appeared in newspapers and literary magazines. A recent manuscript, Commutin’ Train and my novel Joints were recently completed. I've studied with American Book Award winner, Bob Shacochis, playwright Janet Burroway, Marlon Barton (O.Henry Finalist), and poet Peter Huggins. I am a member of the Dramatist Guild, the Canadian Playwrights Guild and participate in the Sundance Collab courses and writer’s café.
I left out the fact I have a book published in China, You! The Brand that has been used as a text in marketing classes at Chinese Universities. A U.S. version was part of a Marketing the Individual Class that I taught for many years at Tallahassee Community College.
