Dr. Michael A. VanPutte

Mike is a military veteran and cyber warfare expert with a distinguished career spanning military service, government work, and academia. After graduating from The Ohio State University, he served as an elite U.S. Army Airborne Ranger and combat engineer in Iraq. He transitioned into the world of cyber warfare, where he spent over two decades working alongside top experts in the field.

During his government tenure, Mike led cyber research programs at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), consulted with the intelligence community, taught computer security and military strategy, and conducted both offensive and defensive cyber operations. His experience spans the spectrum of cybersecurity, from protecting critical infrastructure to developing cutting-edge technologies.

His latest work is the Jack Corvus mystery series, which he started while on a 9-month world cruise. He has also completed Commanding the Stars, a military strategy book that uses science fiction rather than history to teach those interested in military strategy and war without cultural or historical biases. When not traveling or writing, he resides in Columbus, Ohio, with his wife.
