Ian is an Engineer living and working in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia with his wife Terry (who is sure he is an alien and often calls him Alf after an American sitcom by the same name), two sons and two Tonkinese cats. He has been an electrician, an avionics engineer, a small business owner and is an adult leader in the Scouting movement. He also enjoys the odd social game of golf with friends.
With very eclectic tastes in reading and music, he enjoys books by several of the independent authors on Amazon as well as quite a few of the more mainstream authors. He has been reading sci fi ever since he can remember, starting with the old John Carter series by Edgar Rice Burroughs when still in school, then proceeding to Asimov, Heinlein and others. Ian also enjoys old movies of several genres.
In April 2016 he broke his leg while hiking through rugged terrain to an old wreck of a Lincoln Bomber that crashed in 1955. He was two hours into the hike when it happened, he slipped on a log and broke his fibula down near the ankle, but with a lot of help from his companions, the leg was strapped up and splinted and the entire party (including Ian) then hiked back out. The hike out took five hours but the efforts of the youth and other adults in the party to evacuate him made the pain bearable. From the point of view of a leader of youth, the Venturers (15 to 18 years) got to experience a real life casualty evacuation so there are no regrets.
Ian has had stories rattling around his head for many years and the time off work with the broken leg finally gave him the time to sit back and begin putting some of them down on paper.
He is a new author and has recently set up a website with blog at www://igroberts.com
